Terms & Conditions (to protect us both)
Confidentiality and Privacy
I value your privacy and anything that I see or find in your home, and anything you tell me during our time together will be kept strictly confidential. I abide by a professional code of ethics as set out by the Association of Professional Declutterers & Organisers (APDO) and am registered with the Information Commissioners Office (ICO).
I offer advice on decluttering and organising matters in good faith. Ultimately, it is your decision whether to follow any guidance given, especially regarding whether to keep items or to let them go. I take no responsibility for your decisions and actions or the consequences of these decisions or actions at the time or at any point in the future. I do not provide valuations and you are advised to seek professional advice on the value of items for selling or insurance purposes. I handle the items in your home with the utmost care but I cannot guarantee there will be no accidents. You agree that in the case of accidental damage or loss, howsoever caused, I will not be held liable. You are therefore advised that appropriate insurance policies should be in place to cover such accidental damage or losses by agents working in the home. I hold public liability and professional indemnity insurance of £1 million; a certificate can be supplied if requested.
Limits of work
During the organising and tidying process, I will help you move and relocate items and furniture and help you with light cleaning as necessary. Rule Your Roost is not a cleaning company and I will not get involved in any significant or specialist cleaning. I will not lift or move large appliances or heavy furniture where I feel there may be an injury risk to you, or myself, or potential damage to the item or flooring/decor. If during our time together I discover evidence of a significant mould or pest problem I reserve the right to curtail the session and rearrange any remaining hours once the issue has been professionally dealt with. I reserve the right to withdraw my services and charge you a late cancellation fee of £50 if, when I attend your home, I know or suspect you are under the influence of drugs or alcohol, or your behaviour may prevent the session running safely.
Removal of Rubbish & Recycling
I do not hold a license for waste collection and will not be responsible for removing any items of waste or recycling from your home. You must make your own arrangements to dispose of your own waste as you see fit; I can give you a list of local licensed waste contractors to help you but you will need to deal with them directly. At your request, I will transport a car boot full of charity items from your home to one of my preferred local charity shops. This service costs an additional £10 on top of the cost of a hands-on session.
I understand that cancellations are sometimes unavoidable. If you do need to cancel, I kindly ask you to let me know as soon as possible so I can offer my time to other clients. I reserve the right to invoice you a £50 late cancellation charge if you give less than 24 hours cancellation notice prior to my scheduled arrival, without a reasonable explanation OR I attend your home on the day of the session to find you are not available, or that access to the area we agreed to work in is impossible or problematic. If I should need to cancel the booking, at any time, I offer you the chance to reschedule at a reduced rate (-10%) to compensate you for the inconvenience.
I invoice for the hours worked according to the sliding scale on my website - see . If we complete our work together before the end of a 4-hour session I will only charge pro-rata for the hours worked. Depending on the timing of the session it may be necessary for me to bring along my lunch or a snack and have a break but I will not charge you for any downtime that I have requested. Travel and parking expenses will be charged at cost, where applicable and agreed. Payment for services and expenses is requested in full at the end of each session and I accept cash or card payments. Late payments may be charged interest as laid out in The Late Payment of Commercial Debts Act 1998.
